We Are Just Getting Started

Located at 116 South Main Street, in the heart of downtown Lombard, it is the simplest of all types of home architecture and the most distinctive, a white Colonial-style house. “To be true to precedent, the floor plan of this beautifully built 1920s Colonial is rectangular, and the rooms are square. Traditionally, this house cannot help but be a dignified, genial, beautiful, and proven home with lasting appeal.”  Known as The Alice Gray House by the Lombard Historical Society, this home’s most recent use was The Lombardian Newspaper Staff offices.

A Public House is a place where friends and neighbors gather to enjoy good food, libations, and company. This house is now a Public House!

ROSEMARY and JEANS is a family-friendly restaurant with a space and a menu for everyone. It is accessible, with bike racks and a parking lot, and steps away from the Metra station, Lilacia Park, and The Library.

As you enter to the left, three separate dining rooms flow beautifully together with sunlight and warmth -The Parlor, The Back Room, and The Porch. The Pub is a small space to the right where cocktails and cold beers are poured. The wine selection has been thoughtfully chosen and customized to meet our regular guests’ expectations. A large single-stall bathroom with an infant changing table is also accessible through this space. 

Upstairs, you will find meeting and gathering spaces. That’s right, downtown Lombard’s first restaurant offers dedicated PRIVATE rooms to host your next event. The Lounge has a small pub-style bar space and comfortable lounge seating to accommodate groups of 10 – 20 people. The beautiful glass door can be closed for maximum peacefulness and privacy for your group. But wait, There’s more. There is an outdoor deck off this room where you can dine privately on a beautiful day al fresco. 

On the other side of the second-floor landing is an open space that is so versatile that you can host your company luncheons, bridal and baby showers, rehearsal dinners, sports team dinners, and birthday parties. We estimate that this space can accommodate up to 40 people. COMBINE both rooms for a larger private event. There are two bathrooms on this floor. Finally, there is a true outdoor dining patio that wraps around the south side of the building.             

OUR STORY

 Introducing Javier and Esperanza Avila of ROSEMARY and JEANS restaurant. The Avila’s family have been Chicagoans for over 25 years. Married over 33 years, they have two beautiful daughters with families of their own, including 4 adorable grandchildren. Javier and Esperanza always dreamed of owning their own restaurant and are thrilled to see their dream become a reality here in Lombard. They are happy to invite you into their house at 116 S. Main Street to share a meal. Their story at Rosemary and Jeans began when Javier was hired as Executive Chef in March 2023 working closely with Rosemary and Jeans Founders Tracy and Matt Nelson. Tracy and Chef Javier collaborated on the menus of Rosemary and Jeans, Javier adding his experience to the menu. It wasn’t long before Tracy knew she had found the person she wanted to pass the restaurant to and continue its legacy, building its future. Tracy sold the restaurant to Chef in November of 2023 and the new chapter of Rosemary and Jeans began. The name of Rosemary and Jeans will remain to honor the Nelson family, as it is named after Tracy’s mother and Matt’s mother. This next chapter for Rosemary and Jeans is exciting as Chef Javier has been an Executive Chef over 25 years, working as a corporate chef with extensive experience in Italian food in and around Chicago. Chef Javier was trained in time-honored Italian recipes by a traditional Italian chef. Chef has brought his years of expertise and talent to the kitchen of Rosemary and Jeans and patrons couldn’t be happier with what he brings to the table.
